Dear Parents of Northville,

Jacob Shaw, a fifth grader at Amerman, a baseball and football player, a much-loved son, and a friend of many was struck by a car on November 8, 2007.  He suffered a broken femur and severe closed head injuries.  These injuries threatened his life and future as well as all the hopes and dreams his parents had for him.  After being air-lifted to Beaumont Hospital, he spent the next two weeks in ICU.  When he woke, he was unable to speak, and had limited motor skills.  Two months after the accident Jacob had made amazing progress and the doctors were confident that he would make a full recovery and he was able to come home.

Since that night, people have come to together wanting to help.  Many prayed, even if praying was not part of their routine.  Many cooked, even if cooking was not one of their strengths.  This amazing community came together to help one of their own.  Even with everything that has been done, Jacob and his family still need our help.  Even with the positive prognosis he was given, the next year will filled with daily occupational therapy, equipment to help him cope with his recovering motor skills and immense commitments of time and finances for his parents.  Jacob Shaw and his family now face many life-altering challenges.

To assist Jacob and his family the Jacob Shaw Recovery Fund has been created and is being managed as a 501C3.  The Recovery fund will be managed by the fund raising chair-people governed by their written mission statement.  We have a goal to reach 1,000 families in the Northville community in hopes that each can contribute $50.00 to the fund.  Your contribution will have a life changing impact on Jacob and his family.
